Bob Dob’s Grim Reality

film noir |ˌfilm ˈnwär|
genre of film, originally between 1940 and 1960, originating in the United States, employing heavy shadows and patterns of darkness, in which the protagonist dies, meets defeat, or achieves meaningless victory in the end.

Bob Dob likes film noir. A lot. Enough so, that it serves as the influence behind most of his work. The Californian artist creates works of art that take us to a world submersed in the darker side of human nature.

While in our youth we experience many things we would rather forget, but this is what makes us who we are. It defines us. I’ve been very fortunate in experiencing and hearing many great stories, which now find there way into my paintings. Simply put, I’m a visual storyteller.
