As you quickly learn after moving here, there’s always something to do in New York City. Last Thursday night, my friends and I went on [a voyage into the unusual] at 5 Beekman in downtown Manhattan. Thrown by Hendrick’s Gin, this fantastical occasion was filled with a flood of drinks, tons of eccentricity, and good memories with good friends.
In spite of being an abandoned building in The Financial District, 5 Beekman has become one of my favorite places in the city. The last time I was there was for the Margiela for H&M Launch Party back in October, and it seems as though, with a little creativity, this building can be transformed into an amazing atmosphere for just about anything. Needless to say, the Hendrick’s Gin crew is much more lighthearted than the House of Margiela and every element of the party echoed that. While the artistic atmosphere wasn’t as refined as that of the H&M party, the venue was filled some of the coolest things you could ever imagine seeing in this world or the next. Check it out.
