One of the cool things about New York City (that most people probably wouldn’t know unless they lived here) is that Saturdays are the ultimate [chill] day. What I mean by that is, most people I know don’t get hype about going to the clubs or shopping or your typical Saturday activities. It’s all about connecting with your favorite people and really enjoying the lifestyle of the city, whatever that may entail for you, with people that make you feel good.
With that said, I’m currently at VFiles over on Mercer Street with my friend Matt and my buddy Christen, who works at the store and helps keep me up to date (and sometimes ahead of the game) with the coolest pieces of music around. Right now, we’re having a special listening session in the SoHo-based shop and things are sounding good at this point. Being associated with the VFiles brand, he has in-store access to some awesome music content, including Solange’s True EP, which drops on November 27th. I instagramed the album cover the other day and talked about how totally excited I am to check it out. So far, I’m loving what I’m hearing.
Later tonight, we’re heading to the INC. concert, where Sky Ferreira, Dev Hynes, and Physical Therapy will be hitting the stage over at Steel Drums in Brooklyn. Sky is one of my favorite people at the moment, so when Chris asked if I wanted to go, it really wasn’t even a question. If you haven’t gotten familiar with her yet, she’s one of V Magazine’s it girls. Check out the article and listen to Everything Is Embarrassing RIGHT NOW. It’s one of the coolest songs in my iTunes right now.
