Mental Escape: LALALAND

Have you ever been somewhere that somehow seemed to put your mind and body at ease all while being stuck in a trance of newness and “a-ha moments“? Its a feeling that is difficult for me to find the perfect words to explain but certainly¬†a feeling that I believe everyone should experience at some point in their life. You’re probably wondering what amazing foreign country I was in but to be completely honest I was only 6 hours away (by plane) from my apartment in NYC and was loving every second of it. From a high of 40 degrees to palm trees and sunshine, Los Angeles was just the brief mental escape that I needed.

As soon as I landed and LAX I felt the need to change into something a little more appropriate and see what the city had to offer. The first stop of the day was Malibu via the Pacific Coast Highway, which was probably the best highway experience I’ve ever had thus far in my life. After a few Childish Gambino and Frank Ocean tracks we arrived at El Matador Beach. I took a few pictures, packed away my camera and walked along the shore taking it all in, telling myself I could really get use to this. We all need a break every now and then from our day to day routine in order to grow mentally and truly appreciate all the simple pleasures that life has to offer.
